Background:
NIT Meghalaya is gearing up to host researchers, engineers, and students from around the world for the second edition of IEEE NE-IECCE 2026, a major international energy conference. The event is scheduled for three days in June at the institute’s campus in Sohra, better known as Cherrapunjee.
The conference is being organized jointly by NIT Meghalaya’s Electrical Engineering Department, the IEEE Guwahati Subsection, and the IEEE Industry Applications Society Student Branch Chapter. The central themes of the workshop are sustainable energy and transportation electrification, which are gaining much attention due to the growing pressure from developing countries towards a cleaner energy solution.
The attendees will experience sessions including electric vehicle technology, smart grid systems, renewable energy integration and advanced power control systems. The Student Award is another aspect of this event, providing gifted researchers with a significant opportunity to present the fruits of their research for an international audience. Limited travel grants are available to support students facing financial barriers.
The academic perspective ensures that every submitted paper is thoroughly scrutinized for plagiarism and analyzed. Papers that clear the process will be published on IEEE Xplore and indexed in major research databases, a significant credential for any researcher.
Registration is open to both Indian and international participants, with fees varying by IEEE membership status. The venue is accessible via Guwahati Airport, Guwahati Railway Station, or Shillong Airport. Accommodation is available on campus.
For students and early-career professionals in the energy sector, this is a worthwhile opportunity to engage with experts and stay connected with where the field is heading.
