Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu said the state government continues to focus on strengthening education and healthcare while encouraging students to build skills and become job creators rather than job seekers during an event in April at Dera Natung Government College. He inaugurated a new administrative block, a prefabricated badminton and judo hall, and a recreation hall at the institution.
The Chief Minister said the government is working to reduce infrastructure gaps in educational institutions and improve overall learning facilities across the state.
Paying tribute to former education minister Dera Natung, he said the college continues to reflect his vision of empowering youth through quality education. Students were encouraged to actively participate in sports, with emphasis on discipline, leadership and a healthy lifestyle.

The state government’s scholarship programme offers financial support to students who secure admission to the world’s top 150 universities. Plans are also in place to set up two science centres with planetariums in Namsai and Dirang to promote scientific learning among students.
He added that the government is upgrading infrastructure across institutions and introducing academic reforms aligned with global standards. Focus was also placed on skill development in sectors such as hydropower, MSMEs, startups, and entrepreneurship.
He mentioned ongoing initiatives, including Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Swavalamban Yojana, startup support programmes, and the Arunachal Pradesh Investment and Innovation Park to promote self-employment and youth empowerment.
