RV Institute of Management
RVC

The RV Institute of Management (RVIM) is part of the prestigious Rashtreeya Sikshana Samithi Trust (RSST), which has become a landmark name in Karnataka as a leader in education. Founded in 1940, RSST started with one school, and today it has developed into a large learning ecosystem with 28 plus institutions and over 30,000 students. Spread over the decades, the RV Group has left its impression in various areas such as engineering, allied medical sciences, teacher education, architecture, dental sciences and super-speciality healthcare.

The flagship institutions under the RV label, RV College of Engineering, DAPM RV Dental College, RV School of Architecture, and RV Teachers College, have national and international fame. Such a network has given RV as a group an impeccable image of excellence, innovation and societal recognition.

Established in 1999, the mission of RVIM is sharply focused: to create a management school that seamlessly connects Indian entrepreneurship with global business. The institute is situated in the green, central suburb of Jayanagar in Bengaluru, which has good access to the start-up ecosystem, corporate headquarters and global IT hubs in the city. Over the last two and half decades, RVIM has emerged as a trusted name in management education, combining the academic rigour of RV with the innovation and flexibility of an autonomous institution.

Leadership and Vision – The Motto: “We Prepare You for Life”

At the heart of RVIM’s philosophy lies its simple yet powerful motto: “We prepare you for life.” Unlike many management institutions that confine themselves to professional training, RVIM has consistently gone beyond, shaping students into responsible leaders, ethical decision-makers, and adaptive individuals ready to thrive in the VUCA world.

This vision has been steered with clarity and passion by Dr. Purushottam Bung, Director of RVIM, who has been instrumental in positioning RVIM on both national and global maps. Dr. Bung’s leadership blends academic depth with a keen sense of industry relevance. In recent years, he has been invited to international research conferences, higher education summits, and startup roundtables, reflecting RVIM’s integration with global knowledge communities. His recognition as an “Inspiring Education Hero” (2025) is not just a personal accolade but also a testament to the culture of inspiration he has fostered within the institute.

At RVIM, leadership is not top-down. Faculty, students, alumni, and industry partners form a collaborative ecosystem where learning extends well beyond classrooms. Life-skill training, case-study pedagogy, mentoring programs, and exposure to real-world challenges ensure that the motto is not a slogan, but a lived reality for every student.

Defining Moments of Excellence

Over the years, RVIM has accumulated a string of recognitions that testify to its standards of quality and excellence. The most prestigious among them is its NAAC A+ re-accreditation in 2019. This grade, achieved by only a select number of management schools in India, reflects RVIM’s robust teaching-learning-evaluation processes, research culture, infrastructure, and student outcomes.

In addition, RVIM is one of the few Indian institutes certified by QS I-GAUGE, a global benchmarking system. It first earned recognition for E-readiness in 2020, followed by a Diamond rating for subject categories in 2022, underscoring its technology-enabled and future-ready pedagogy.

Rankings have consistently placed RVIM in the top tier of business schools:

  • 47th pan-India (Times of India 2025)
  • 12th best B-School in South India
  • 10th best in Bengaluru (Business Today & India Today 2024)

Beyond numbers, the institute has won national awards: the Excellence in Industry Partnership and Collaboration Award (2025) and the Accreditation Achievement Award (2025), recognizing RVIM as one of the most accredited and industry-integrated business schools in India.

Principles that Guide RVIM

RVIM is guided by a set of values and academic principles that differentiate it from the rest:

  • Industry Relevance: Every aspect of RVIM’s MBA is closely aligned with corporate and industry needs. The NSMART Lab with NSE, corporate case competitions, industry certifications, and immersive internships ensure students develop employablity skills.
  • Global Outlook: RVIM’s partnerships span across continents, with institutions in the USA, UK, Germany, Poland, and Russia. Through student immersion, research collaborations, and joint projects, learners get global exposure without leaving Bengaluru.
  • Innovation & Technology: Digital platforms such as QUIKLRN – LMS, IMPARTUS – Lecture Capturing solution by Uppgrad, Coursera Campus License – unlimited enrolment license for two years, and remote access to databases like EBSCO, J-Gate, Pearsons e-books, & Prowess IQ empower students to learn anywhere, anytime.
  • Inclusivity & Diversity: Initiatives like Mathrubhasha Diwas, celebrating India’s linguistic diversity, and International Women’s Day leadership panels reinforce RVIM’s commitment to inclusivity.

Together, these principles ensure that every student emerges as a professional who is globally competent, industry-ready, and socially responsible.

Staying Relevant in a Changing World

In an era where change is the only constant, RVIM’s curriculum is continuously evolving. The MBA with dual specialisation allows students to combine areas like Finance and Analytics, or Marketing and Entrepreneurship, tailoring education to career goals. Emerging fields such as Business Analytics, Operations & Supply Chain Management, and Startup Management reflect RVIM’s foresight.

The 16 Centres for Excellence serve as engines of continuous innovation, from sustainability to data science. For instance, the BIDA 2025 International Conference on Business Intelligence and Data Analytics brought together 600+ papers from eight countries, exposing students to frontier research.

Technology is deeply woven into learning. Through Coursera’s unlimited campus license, students access 8000 plus courses and 1,200 plus guided projects. Simulation labs, live projects, and international case studies prepare them for the disruptions of AI, fintech, clean tech, and beyond.

Defining Achievements

RVIM has consistently achieved 90% plus placements across batches. In the 2022–24 cycle, 57 companies recruited 151 students, with the highest package at ₹16.5 LPA and the average at ₹6.27 LPA. Recruiters range from multinational giants like TCS, EY, KPMG, PwC, Capgemini, Bosch, Toyota, and Asian Paints to fast-growing startups.

Entrepreneurship is equally celebrated. In 2025, student-led startup OZY (Operations Easy) was recognised at Startup Mahakumbh, New Delhi, receiving seed funding of ₹2.56 lakh. The idea, a SaaS-based inventory management tool for unorganised pharmacies, showcased how RVIM students are solving real societal problems.

Faculty have contributed significantly to research. To name a few:

  • Tamizharasi published a Scopus-indexed case study and papers in ABDC journals.
  • Sumeira Alur presented on asset tokenisation at an academic forum.
  • Director Dr. Bung chaired international conferences and contributed to global dialogues on AI, startups, and education.

These achievements highlight RVIM’s threefold strength: strong placement outcomes, a growing entrepreneurial ecosystem, and a robust research culture.

Life Beyond Classrooms

At RVIM, education extends well beyond academics. The campus culture is vibrant, inclusive, and deeply engaging.

  • Sports & Fitness: The Annual Sports Meet includes cricket, football, volleyball, kabaddi, badminton, chess, and table tennis, encouraging teamwork and leadership.
  • Culture & Diversity: Events like Bharat Utsav celebrate India’s multilingual identity, while Kreeda Carnival revives traditional Indian games.
  • Community Engagement: The Rotaract Club leads initiatives for social awareness. In June 2025, International Yoga Day was marked by a trek, yoga demonstration at a hilltop, and a tree-planting and cleanliness drive.
  • Civic Celebrations: Republic Day, Rajyotsava and International Women’s Day events reinforce civic responsibility and inclusivity.

This balance of academics, sports, cultural festivals, and community outreach ensures that students graduate as well-rounded individuals.

Adapting to Disruptions

Like any progressive institution, RVIM has faced disruptions, from the pandemic’s demand for hybrid learning to the rapid digitisation of industries. The institute responded by:

  • Investing in digital infrastructure such as LMS fully integrated into our curriculum, Smart boards – i7 configuration with required audio – video in all the classrooms and other facilities (Conference hall, Seminar hall, Workshop hall, Computer labs (4 Nos), Board Room, Multi-purpose hall and Open air quadrangle), Upgrad lecture capturing solutions in all the classrooms and Labs, etc.
  • All the computers (around 240 plus) are of latest configuration fully loaded with contemporary software
  • Offering employability skill enhancement sessions bridging academia and workplace expectations.
  • Organising industry visits to various industries including IKEA and Delhivery for real world exposure.

These adaptive strategies not only minimised disruption but also created a more resilient, future-ready institution.

Collaborations & Leadership

RVIM’s contributions have been widely recognised:

  • Excellence in Industry Partnership Award (2025)
  • Accreditation Achievement Award (2025)
  • Inspiring Education Hero Award to Director Dr. Bung (2025)
  • Faculty honoured as speakers and chairs at international conferences and summits

Such accolades reaffirm RVIM’s role as a leader in academia-industry collaboration and educational innovation.
