Background :

Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy walked into the 11th NITI Aayog Governing Council meeting in New Delhi with one central argument: put education first, and build the economy around it.

Speaking at the session chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Rashtrapati Bhavan, Reddy presented findings from the state’s Social, Economic, Educational, Employment, Political, and Caste survey conducted last year. The survey covered 3.55 crore people across 242 castes. Telangana’s entire development plan, the CM said, would now be built on that data.

His message to the council was straightforward. Quality education and healthcare form the only real foundation for national progress. Reddy told the gathering he personally holds the education portfolio in his cabinet because of his deep conviction in what schooling can do for a society.

Public schools in Telangana now offer English-medium instruction, digital classrooms, three meals a day, school buses, sports facilities, and trained teachers. The government’s ‘Young India Schools’ project, planned across every constituency, aims to break social and caste barriers through equal access to learning.

Reddy also presented the state’s ‘Telangana Rising‘ vision before the council. The goal is a one-trillion-dollar economy by 2034, growing to three trillion dollars by 2047.

He proposed a Prime Minister-led ‘M-6 Task Force’ to accelerate development across six cities: Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Hyderabad, and Bengaluru. He asked the Centre to commit Rs 6 lakh crore toward this effort, with Rs 1 lakh crore per city earmarked for infrastructure.

The CM placed several specific requests before the council. These included approvals for the Regional Ring Road, Hyderabad Metro Phase 2, Musi River rejuvenation, the ‘Bharat Future City’ project, the Palamuru-Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Scheme, semiconductor manufacturing units, and a new IIM in Hyderabad.
