Background:

The Telangana Government aims to reach a USD 3 trillion economy by 2047, focusing strongly on education and healthcare. At the Telangana Rising Summit 2047, leaders said they want to make the state a global hub for quality learning and skilled talent.

At the event, Minister Damodar Rajanarsimha said the government is working to prepare students, especially young women, for jobs around the world. He noted that the government is moving beyond traditional degree-based learning and is prioritising skill-driven, employment-oriented education.

Rajanarsimha said professional courses such as nursing can provide financial independence for girls from low- and middle-income families. To support this, the state opened 16 new nursing colleges last year. He also recommended that students be trained in German, Japanese and English to help them pursue global jobs.

The minister stressed that academic knowledge must be paired with hands-on skills and entrepreneurial training. He added that delivering quality education to every student remains a key commitment of the government.

Highlighting the state’s progress, Rajanarsimha said Telangana now has 47 universities and nearly 2,000 higher-education institutions, placing it among the leading states in college density and enrolment levels.

The minister also discussed initiatives under the Young India vision, which include setting up Young India Integrated Residential Schools and establishing a dedicated Young India Skill University to align talent development with industry needs. A dual apprenticeship programme has already begun for polytechnic students in partnership with global companies such as ALPLA of Austria.

These reforms aim to create skilled workers who can help boost Telangana’s future growth.
