Background-
Andhra Pradesh has won praise from the World Bank for the progress it has made in education, with officials pointing to gains in learning outcomes, digital learning and teacher training.
The praise came during a workshop in New Delhi organised by the World Bank Group. Titled “Strengthening Client Capacity for Impact (SCCI),” the three-day session focuses on building implementation skills and improving how World Bank-backed projects run across India.
B Srinivasa Rao, State Project Director of Samagra Shiksha, joined the workshop along with V Satish Reddy, SALT Project Coordinator, to represent Andhra Pradesh.
Rao walked participants through the education work being done by the state’s School Education Department under Samagra Shiksha, carried out with World Bank backing.
Bank officials pointed to real improvement in how students are learning, how digital tools are being used in classrooms, and how teachers are being trained across the state.
They also called out Andhra Pradesh’s SALT (Supporting Andhra’s Learning Transformation) programme by name, describing it as a strong case of a Program-for-Results model working well at the ground level.
Rao said the workshop was built around real-world application rather than lectures and theory. He said the format lets state teams take ideas straight from the session and put them to use in their own projects.
The SCCI workshop brings together officials from states across India to share what is working and to sharpen how World Bank-supported education programmes get delivered on the ground.
