Background 

Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Thursday said the future of India lies in its classrooms, and his government is committed to giving top priority to education. He was speaking on the eve of Teachers’ Day, highlighting the reforms and initiatives taken in the education sector over the past year.

The CM said that after coming to power, the government focused on strengthening the teaching community. Over 10,000 schoolteachers and 1,265 junior lecturers have been hired. Promotion concerns of nearly 20,000 teachers that had been pending for a long time were resolved, and more than 46,000 transfers were conducted transparently. He also stated that these measures have increased morale in teachers and have contributed to uplifting the teaching environment within the schools.

In order to enhance the learning achievements, 1.13 lakh teachers were specially trained to learn the modern teaching skills and make the classroom more interesting. In 2025-26, the state education budget also rose to Rs 23,108 crore, about 8 percent of the total Budget.

The CM further stated that new schools have been set up, textbooks and uniforms are being supplied on time, and the midday meal scheme has been strengthened. Around 7.6 lakh hostel students have benefited from enhanced diet and cosmetic charges.

In line with the vision to provide equal opportunities, the government launched Young India Residential Schools in every Assembly constituency, upgraded 120 Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas (KGBVs) to the Intermediate level, and modernised 65 ITIs in collaboration with Tata Technologies. He also announced the revival of state universities with the appointment of new vice-chancellors and the setting up of Telangana’s first women’s university.

On the occasion of Teachers’ Day, the government will recognize 49 educators with the State Award for their creative teaching practices and dedication to student development. The awardees include Ch. Shankar, Headmaster of Mugpal ZPHS in Nizamabad; A. Bhanu Prakash, School Assistant (Telugu) at Lalgadi Malakpet ZPHS; and K. Thirupathi, School Assistant (English) at Ghanapur ZPHS. The ceremony is scheduled to be held at Shilpakala Vedika on Friday evening.
